We’re lucky to live in Summit County, where so many awesome nonprofit organizations work hard to improve our community. At Timberline Craft Kitchen + Cocktails, we love supporting the dedicated people and groups that work hard to uplift others every day.

To help connect you to the best in our area, we’ve highlighted some of the beloved nonprofits in our area that really go above and beyond. Get ready to feel inspired by the incredible efforts of these groups as you read about the meaningful ways they serve Summit County!

Summit County Rotary Club

The Rotary Club of Summit County embodies the spirit of “Service Above Self.” With a membership of nearly 100 civic-minded individuals, this nonprofit organization is committed to addressing local and global issues. The club supports tons of supportive local initiatives – putting on literacy programs, providing scholarships, and contributing to international humanitarian efforts.

Summit School District

As a nonprofit organization, the Summit School District is dedicated to providing exceptional public education to families across Breckenridge, Dillon, Frisco, and Silverthorne.

One of our favorite programs is the Outdoor Education initiative, which leverages the region’s natural environment to enhance learning experiences. Students participate in hiking, camping, and environmental studies, fostering a deep appreciation for nature and their mountain community.

LAPS

The League for Animals and People of the Summit (LAPS) is dedicated to controlling pet overpopulation and assisting pet owners with veterinary costs. In 2023 alone, LAPS provided over $88,000 in medical assistance and funded 311 spay/neuter vouchers, preventing over 1,000 unwanted animals from ending up in shelters.

Summit Advocates

For over 40 years, Summit Advocates for Victims of Assault has been providing vital services and support to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and other trauma in Summit County.

Their mission is to enhance safety, justice, and empowerment for these survivors through trauma-informed, confidential assistance – creating a safe and supportive community for everyone in our county.

Summit Historical Society

The Summit Historical Society preserves and celebrates the rich tapestry of Summit County’s history through its extensive archives and educational initiatives.

Their collection spans over 8,000 artifacts, including historical letters, business ledgers, maps, photographs, and physical objects that bring the region’s past to life. Plus, the society maintains and protects some of our favorite local historical sites, including the 1883 Dillon Schoolhouse, 1885 Homestead Cabin, and 1919 Rice Family Barn.

TEDxBreckenridge

TEDxBreckenridge is a local non-profit organization that ignites thought-provoking discussions and fosters an engaged community. As an independently organized TED event, they curate talks from local speakers and performers to share “ideas worth spreading.”

Beyond the main event, TEDxBreckenridge champions innovative projects through their “Innovation Alley” showcase. From education to human rights initiatives, TEDxBreckenridge helps amplify the voices of those making a positive impact in our community and beyond.

National Repertory Orchestra (NRO)

The National Repertory Orchestra provides transformative experiences for aspiring professional musicians through its prestigious summer music festival in Breckenridge.

Each year, 80 talented musicians are selected for this tuition-free program, where they perform an extensive repertoire under the guidance of renowned conductors like Music Director Michael Stern. Beyond their incredible concerts, NRO musicians have engaged the community with free events like youth programs, instrument “petting zoos,” and outreach initiatives.

Timberline Adult Day Program

Timberline Adult Day Program provides essential respite care for caregivers through its enriching day programs for adults in Summit County.

As a nonprofit governed by a local board, Timberline offers a safe, affordable space for adult participants to receive professional nursing care and engaging activities during the day. Their dedicated team of nurses, certified nursing assistants, and volunteers ensures participants benefit from therapeutic social interaction and mental stimulation.
